Marilyn to ANZAC ...

Mad about men...

If you haven't you need to,
If you can't you must,
If you do you understand,
If you don't you won't read this.

I am of course talking about mad men, the amazingly addictive incredibly styled, wittily written and uber sexy TV show now in its fifth season.

I want Don Draper, I warmed to penny, I still love Roger, hate Jane, secretly wish for a Betty and Don reunion and feel kindred with Joan!

This obsession along with a general respect for Miss Monroe's abilities with a pencil skirt and cardigan gave me inspiration over the past week, check out the results below...

Wat I'm wearing~ Black vintage pencil skirt, forever new 50's esq black cami top, friends of couture pale pink bolero and black suede bow front Tony Biancos

Wat I'm wearing~ Black vintage Carla Zampatti knit with Ice Design cream and black art deco-esq woolen knit skirt and black suede bow front Tony Biancos

To Market, to mind and to spirits -straight up!

My Saturday mornings often spent working off the calories of the night before's alcohol ingestion have recently had another activity added - The farmers markets!

My mothers favourite thing to do on a Saturday morning is to wake up, go for a walk and then finish this all off by grabbing her half comatose daughter and heading to the markets for the weeks fresh veggies,  an almond croissant and strong black coffee.
Now I'm not the greatest fan of late nights with early starts (ironic as I work in events and frequently wake early and go to sleep late)  however I'm a massive fan of the bacon an egg roll and strong black coffee - also I love the fresh flower vendors!

After several weeks of this routine I have now mastered the roll out of bed and fall into something easy, comfortable and chic looking (should like that cute guy from the bus/ train end up being there to!)
see the results below...

Wat I'm wearing~ Dotti dark denim jeans, Armarni Exchange black racer back cotton cami, Vintage woollen cable knit cardigan, Sportsgirl silver and turquoise chain and Bulgari sunnies!

Anzac - Ledg-en-dary!

who doesn't like this public holiday?
If you have to work your making double time and half, if your off then your soaking up the last rays of a pseudo summer, chilling out to beats, maybe playing a little two up at the local and most defiantly having a few cheeky ones to remember those who fought to make it all possible!

If your a Danni, your mother took off on a Thelma an Louise style road trip with girlfriends of her own and left you and the delightfully outfitted entertainers dream house to your own devices..
BBQ-check, TUNES- check, DRINKS -check and my muchly loved friendlettes CHECK CHECK!

Wat I'm wearing~ Minkpink white cotton sundress, Vintage cable knit cardigan, Glassons belt, Allanah Hill Beige patterned tights, Florence riding boots (no really I got them in Florence years ago and have no idea what brand they are!) Dotti sunhat, vintage medallion on a silver chain -it was appropriate I thought! And Prada Aviators stolen from a cute obliging male!

Day well spent!

p.s check out the spaniard plotting our impending european invasion- very che' chic in my hat!

More soon,

Annie ideas?

Annie time is good...

"tomorrow, tomorrow, i love ya, tomorrow! Bet your bottom dollar on tomorrow...when your stuck with a day thats grey and only - just stick out chin and grin and say - the sun will come out tomorrow, so you gotta hang on till tomorrow, there will be sun!"

It was "the nannas" birthday and as anyone who knows the nanna is aware, she has quite the soft spot for a good musical. Annie is one of the nannas favorite all time classics. When these two factors collide and we have annie the musical - you have a nanna winner!
The date was set, the tickets bought, the lunch choice choosen... But wat would i wear?

Instantly i wanted to wear my red and white cocachoo dress with white peter pan collar and white musical note trim...i have red hair blue eyes and freckles - yep i thought so too! if only i was ten again and appearing to dress up as a favorite character was actually cute?

After a short deliberation i settled on something cute flippy and very lady like... the nana was impressed,  see below!

Wat I'm wearing~  pale pink flip bottom Viva dress (picked up whilst in noosa with the spanaid memories!) Sportsgirl tuxedo blazer belted with Glassons brown and gold belt and cream bow front Rubi shoes

P.S Bistro 80 at the star where we took the nana for pre show lunch was tre' delicious! if you have some time before or after a show its defiantly worth the effort.

Between drinks

The afterwork drink is something of legend for its sheer ability to bring teams together, the IT geek who has never had any reason to talk to football jock sales guy discovers they order the same boutique beer and infact both have an inner love of a german man in tiny leather shots, and over the knee socks! The really 'friendly' girl with the really large 'eyes' and the sensible overly organized liberian type discover they both have a strange and undeniable attraction to stuffed bell chillies which leads to a broader conversation on Chile the country and south america that then leads to both having a weakness for south american men resembling Che Guevara... The point? afterwards both previously unconnected parties are bonded by their shared truths.

Thursday night was after work drinks at my new office! Eek!
What do you wear to this if your the new girl?
Oh and your working on site all day before this ... in jeans, sneakers and a really stunning bright blue corporate sports shirt?
I was defiantly going to have to change in the car on the way over!

I decided on slightly flippy and pretty with a trendy edge, see below.

Wat I'm wearing~  New Sportsgirl yellow flip dress w vintage tan belt, Dotti hat, Bulgari sunnies and Love story Mules.

Easter...

Family, Feast, Church, Chocolate!

This was the first big family affair for myself and bachelor 1 since we officially resumed our courtship... maybe lol.
So needless to say i needed a hot but cute dress to go with my manbag!

Heres what I found!

Wat I'm wearing~  New Valleygirl lemon floral 50's halter neck, Allanah Hill Pink and black bow cardi, Brown leather buckle belt and Wittner cream wedges!

raindrops and puddle ducks

"Raindrops keep fallin' on my head
But that doesn't mean my eyes will soon be turnin' red
Cryin's not for me
'Cause I'm never gonna stop the rain by complainin'
Because I'm free
Nothin's worryin' me"
- B.J. Thomas
With the recent spate of rain not set to go anywhere yet I decided to embrace the weather And my inner six year old self ...

I have been hunting for the perfect pair of gumboots for a long time, I've searched festival stalls, markets, websites, shoe stores and in general every place I had ever come across for that perfect pair of gumboots, just for me.
So resigned to the fact that I was never going to own that cool pair of elusive gummys that I almost walked past the amazing hot pink and orange pokadot creations with orange bows on the front and bright orange soles... in a word - purchase!

In light of the rain and inspired by my new purchase I remembered a simpler time in life when rain was a magical, mythical, sensational event that coincided with pretty knits, pastel tights, and gumboots all the nessary items when chasing rain nymphs & puddle fairies and creating mud pie! MMmmmm

what I'm wearing ~ New black dress (found at St Vinnies Ultimo), Jonathan Aston Cream, tights, tulle and checkers  petite-cote, Vintage pink blazer, Forever New hair clips and 'The' gumboots!

Kitch in the kitchen...

My mother is an amazing woman! No really!
She's like Meryl Streep's character in 'Its Complicated' meets Diane Keatons 'Somethings Gotta Give' performance... common factor? not only are these woman successful and beautiful independent women... they're also fantastic mothers AND AMAZING cooks!

It is no accident at all that my sister gave up jornalisim to write a food blog, Little Pudding  (and botique bakery by the same name), Memories abound of spending afternoons helping mum in the kitchen making piklet mix or curried mince, or  Butter cakes.. 'fold the flour.... dont mix it! fold!!!" to perfect Jaffles 'butter the outside of the bread and cook on the electric fry pan'.

My mothers christmas cakes are out standing... Ussally for at least a month before christmas!! and dont forgett the extra alcohol added very few days to the standing fruit mix!

Her family secret Bolognese is the best (and i'm not discounting the possible hair of dog references) hang over cure ever! And when she can be bribed to cook one, her rice puddings are a thing of ledgend!

The point ?
Cooking for me isn't the passion it is for my mother and sister, its is though something that comes as naturally as riding a bike and for that i feel very lucky!

This week was my brother in laws birthday so I felt inspired to get in the kitchen... patty cakes (butter cakes in general actually, a left-over talent from making them for my grandpa) are something I've always had a talent for and found enjoyable to create.

I also felt it was a great excuse to dress a little like a betty croker and bring out the dangerously cute 50's inspired outfit... with a modern bun twist, check it out below...

p.s- you can also see a patch of mango ice cream being made in the background - its another of my culinary talents -Shhh!

what I'm wearing ~ Yellow Warhol cans Dangerfeild dress, Sportsgirl waist belt, Wittner wedges and seed. sunnies

More soon brandy snaps!

Short stories, boots and festivals

Feeling festive...

When I left off last post I was off to surf the wave ... the wave of sound!

Im pleased to report That the festival known as soundwave once again delivered a solid array of fabulous bands and of course plently of eyecandy both on and off the stage!
I have to say that serious snaps need to be given to Mr Rossdale who STILL looks seriously sexy in a ribbed singlet -seriously Ian Watkins eat your heart out for thoose abbs!

I have to hand fashion snaps to the blokes this year as the female population weather influenced by the presence of hard core acts circa Marlin Manson and Slipnott, were largely over dressed in uncomfortable and impractical ensembles.
Think leather corsets over lace mesh tops, tulle ballet skirts, fishnets and punk platform shoes or lace up boots (and unless Docs come in a healed variety these were not those)
Ladies don't get me wrong theres a place for the goth princess look- it just ain't anywhere near a mosh pit, grassy dance floor or festival in general - save it for hellfire!

so now some notes on good festival attire - number one consider the line up, are these band your going to bop to? will you be chilled out on the grassy knoll with snow cone and a bottle of cider swaying to dolced tones or are you going to be in mosh/ dance pitt at the front of the stage, covered in god knows what thrusting with the might of the 5000 others behind you all wanting to have the front mans babies just as much as you (yes even the guys)... all important questions that need to be answered before deciding on an outfit.

My festival line up looked a tad like this -

Saves the day - bopping start
Heros for hire - more bop
unwritten law- slightly more hardcore angry bopping
Lostprofets - full on jumping action starting to set in
A Day to remember  - Im jump-bopping - yes thats a thing!
Reliant K - major bopping
Bush - swaying and bopping - some cigarette lighter action could be incorporated :P
A rocket to the moon - swaying
Cobra starship - Dancing "good girls go bad!"
Dashboard Confessional - total chill out moment - cider , chips ice cone grassy knoll set!
Jacks Mannequin - still chillin "dark blue, dark blue"
The Used - total return to 2005 mosh dancing! still heart these guys for an awesome performance xx
System of a down - bopping - jumping, cigarette lighters - just everything really- its system!
Angels and Airwaves - chilled at the back on the grass for this - check the pretty shots below ...
Tom still yummy!

What I'm wearing~ Blue button front openbacked Glassons dress, the Dotti hat, k-mart bedazzled canvas slip ons,  new Hot Air  Ballon necklace (i feel an obsession comming on) And vintage pink rayban style sunnies.

Long story short...

I have recently been on a mission to spend a sportsgirl voucher that my loverly aunt gave me for xmas...  you'd think it was easy - apparently not, I have suffered serious issues trying to commit to a purchase!

Jewelry has seemed uninspired, dresses to delicate, blazers not quite the right fit and even the shoes have been MIA in a size 9, Rubbish!

Then I found them - white denim, slight rib -medium short and nice ass hugging back pockets I'm talking about my new white denim shorts...

I know there's a Jessica Simpson Brittney Spears stigma associated with white denim shorts however I feel it my duty to prove that these can be styling and chic not trailer park hick!

See below efforts - these babies are comming to a friday night session near you (Just as soon as it stops raining!)

What I'm wearing~
Red outfit - vintage red blazer, Valleygirl red gingham halter top, the new white shorts and Rubi shoes cream studded bow front peeptoe sling back kitten heals.
black outfit - Sportsgirl tuxedo blazer, Armani Xchange black cotton racer back bustier top, Bulgari sunnies and tan studded T-bar strappy heals from Peeptoe shoes.
black and red out fit- Kitten D'Amor short sleeve bow front button up blazer with previous black top and red Allanah Hill Bow Heals.
Casual outfit - Sportsgirl Pastel Heart print V-neck racer back top with tan plaited belt and Love Story mules.

The Friday...

Its raining its pouring danielle is snoring!!!

No seriously I'm completely over the lack of summer in this summer,
Give me the sunshine- Failling that give me really hot boots!

I have a love of old school (like 1800's) lace up boots - I call these Villennelle Boots after my all time favorite heroin (from jennette wittersons novella The Passion)

I got given these ones a While ago and they were actually way too tall for my short ass legs - what were ment to be over the knee boots looked like crotch boots...
After a breif trip to shoe rehab (also known as coombes in the strand arcade) my former crack boots were reformed to over the knee slight acholo boots.

I love wearing these boots with really girly dresses in pastel or virginal colours with loads of pearls the juxtaposition is entertaining and i really like that naughty feeling you get from knowing your wearing REALLY SEXY boots outside the context of a strip bar!

Ironiclly the spaniard is holding hostage my full outfit pics of my beautiful boots!
Please be patient and I will have these awersome boots as captured in vintage polaroid form loaded asap, in the mean time see the reast of the fun below...

What I'm Wearing ~ Sportsgirl tuxedo blazer, peach 70's inspired baby-doll Don't Ask Amanda dress, Vintage belt from Aunt Jan, beige Jonathan Aston fishnet tights and the Villanelle boots (that you cant see!) also Paspley pearl studs and Thomas Sabo charm necklace.

Bicycle bicycle ...

My new bicycle bicycle ...

"Sunshine on my window makes me happy like i should be!"
Im in love with this new and improved version of sydney weather and just in time for me to try a new look ... Bicycle Bella!

Having recently moved from holiday specific rider to enthusiastic cycler I thought it was time for an upgrade from my aunts old bike to a vintage inspired, pink, basket bearing cycling equivilant of a fashion statement!

With the recent arrival of the sunshine I decided it was the perfect excuse to spend a day cycling and swimming! check out the cuteness below!

Wat I'm wearing ~ blue Glassons dress with vintage shell necklace, butterfly stud earings, French Kitty vintage inspired bikini and coral Havanas topped up with my favorite Dotti hat!

Lazy Family daze...

Can i just declare that one of my absolute favorite things to do on a sunday is lunch! Even better is when its the lazy family hang type of sunday lunch...
Sunday was just that kind of lunch - great food, (thanx aunty Jan) great company and of course that so cute attention stealing nephew of mine ... just cant imagine where in the family he gets that from??

see the pics below - My Sister making motherhood look effortless, my Mother (in the white dress) making Nanas around the world jealous and Aunt Jan- the women invented stylish... Oh the pressure!

Wat I'm wearing ~ yellow gingham button up Ark and Co dress from Modcloth.com,  Cotton On Body black frilly bandeaux, Miss Shop dinosaur designs inspired necklace, 'the' little Dotti hat, tan platted bow clasp  belt and Love Story mules.

Fairyland inspiring earrings...

My dear old (scratch that -YOUNG) Aunty Caz who was unusually missing from the family sunday lunch hang due to her nephew's engagement party (wait no scratch that again SURPRISE WEDDING) on the south coast came back to town with many stories and of corse the aforementioned TINY and INSIGNIFICANT news (please do note the sarcasm ) ...

She also came back with earrings - for non other than well ME :)
Awesome loverly silver lightweight Owl earrings an offering she told me she had procured from an obliging market she came across on her travels!
Im in love with them!
check out below ...

Wat I'm wearing ~ Vintage white Lace embroided, slit cut maxi dress with black Cotton On bandeaux, Vintage purple stone necklace,  new Owl earrings from aunty, Bulgari sunnies and 'those' mules.

Summer breezy!

In love with my new dress... abstract floral print, racer back, button down, vintage lace trim and it was only $10 from dotti! SHhhh fletch it was a nessary evil!

Wat I'm wearing ~ new Dotti racer back botton down dress with vintage lace trim, blue organza ribbon worn as sash, Dotti  hat and Jeweled flip flops a bi-product of my mothers month in italy in the summer of 09 & still going strong!

Working Gal...

In between contracts and meeting potential new ones requires effort and many many many meetings, these then require outfits ... corporate, trustworthy ones, to quote a classic

'I need that top, its my most responsible looking out fit"
- Alica Silverstone in that timeless gal classic Clueless!

Heres a selection of my weeks most responsible looking ensembles, (no one would ever guess i was at heart secretly still 5 years old playing dressup's in my mummy clothing)

Wat I'm wearing ~ Black Dotti dress with Vintage crystal necklace, silver Baku earrings from bachelor #1, vintage black & gold clasp belt, with Sportsgirl tuxedo blazer and caramel buckle detail Rubi shoes flats.  And white bianca spender inspired Valleygal blazer with black Forever New 50's inspired camisole and Barkins simple black high waisted pencil skirt.

Hillside for the mid week cheeky drink...

Despite my being a born and breed child of the ol'HD (Hills District) the idea of drinking and partying in the hills has never really been my scene mainly due to working & living in the city however with my recent return to paradise city i felt it only right that i give the 'local hang's' a fair chance...

Hump day drinks and pizza with friends and gossip at the Hillside ...
Verdict? I didn't hate it, the little bar that could (and did slowly take over an entire complex and make it into a pub) served up a decent and delicious pizza and the bar staff were friendly and efficient!

Wat I wore ~ new Dotti racer back botton down dress with vintage lace trim, trusty Sportsgirl tuxedo blazer and my current favorite love story mules topped up with Bulgari sunnies.

The Dreaded Wisdom ...

On a parting note i had recently been suffering from an ongoing disagreement with my wisdom teeth Namely that they had seen the need to come on through and I strongly thought that they and the previously noted wisdom should stay on partying in my gumms!

On thursday morn at approximately 7 am I won this debate - I had the suckers removed - Under heavy sedation as i really really REALLY do not care for pain!

Check out my loverly new fashion statement - Its called the scarf inspired ice beard! its going to be hott in all the hospitals - you heard it here first!
you will also notice that I've not been caffeine deprived and have instead embraced the new medical reasoning for my drinking lukewarm coffee through a straw!

Now that the swelling has gone down time to think about that soundwave out fit, cause i be a lucky bunchkin with a ticket ... oh yes Lost Profits here I come

"Burn burn burn the hate that gets me through burn burn for us, for them for you!"

Love is in the air ...

To Market to market...

A certain strapping lad and myself have been meaning to check out the growers markets at flemington for some time... About three years but hey we're city dwellers mainly and its sooooooo dam far to flemington (as boy points out it dose require visas to go that far past where the world as we know it ends)

Moving past "our life of upper middle class suburban oppression!"

Boy is quite the handy man and requires tools (insert obvious pun here :P)
hearing that the markets have some great hardware stalls (insert other pun - seriously ppl remove heads from the gutter already :P)  we ventured to discover - true or false?
Turns out TRUE! check out the big kid in the candy store below!

Later whilst we wandered through all the remaining stalls selling seafood, spices and seriously great cookware, chopping on yummy Gozleme and Mr happily munching down a beef Kebab, I discovered the answer to a question I've had for a while ...

To maxi or not to maxi?

The issue with myself and the maxi dress stems from this main issue -
Im not very tall and also I'm not very skinny!
AND you see designers largely have an obsession with designing maxi dresses in either disgusting lycra resembling fabric, or equally unflattering tube cuts (or sometimes in a value studded extra you get a tube cut lycra maxi!)
I mean really? who are these tube cuts for? they confuse me more than I have adequate lines to properly describe!

Maybe just a little rant?

AND GO...
Are they for really skinny girls? it would appear not as those girls need to create the illusion of having curves, tube cut = fail for them ...
Is it for pear shapes? no they have hips an arses, tube cuts empisise both these things and again fail, further confusion!
Maybe for apple shapes? cant see that either, apples are like really skinny girls in that they also need to create the illusion of having curves, and a tube cut lycra dress would look more like walking apple pie then apple of the eye!
Finally I know they're not for hour glass figures like mine because they look bloody awrful on me, case closed!

Back to the issue at hand- I've finally found a maxi dress that is not only a cotton blend - has a nice Sass & Bide-esq pattern but also has a great Aline cut, for those who will understand ~

'I sound my barbaric Yawp!!!'

see pics below :)

I highly recommend making the packed lunches and several 'getting psyched' efforts to go to these fabulous markets - Did I mention the loverly dress only cost Mr $10? Double win!

Valentines day!

The lead up to this yearly event is always anxious, if your in a couple then there's always the debate about wether its a hallmark holiday, no longer worthy of acknolowgement or a legitimate excuse to show each other you care?
If your single it's the perfect opurtunity to exercise your inner miranda (SATC) cynical side... right up to the nailbittingly anxious on the day wait to see if indeed YOU will receive any of those 'mystery' roses that turn up on the hot blondes desk all day! ( I mean who needs that many roses???)

SOoO naturally (such an attractive specimen) eligible bachelor #1 has asked me to dinner ... 2 Q's
what to wear? what to buy him?

I've been told to meet at a location at a time, I have no further details and the weather is hot and muggy- I need an out fit that can go from dressy to sundressy (its a word!) with just a few simple moves ...

I choose my new Mrs Press dress (still left over from the enforced shopping trip a few wk-end's ago -it was so enforced! DONT JUDGE ME!)

I wear it with a simple long gold chain, red chandelier earrings and Allanah Hill red bow heals or if we go casual my tan jewel studded flip flops ...

Oh and the other issue... I buy him a new Xbox game  :)

Snaps for bachleor #1 who has left a trail of bread crumbs that lead to me finding this on the table ...

V.spoilt - check out what it contained below :)

We might keep this one on rotation for a while me thinks... xo

Hats, Coffee and the Allanah Hill Holygrail!

I have fair skin and my fair share of freckles, I have to apply gradual tan every day just to look healthy and non-vitamin deficient, I also have a nose that goes red if it even senses sunlight falling near it! solution - I NEED A HAT :)

Cue my new Dotti bowler! isn't it just Tre Cute!

I thought it was perfect for a girly N.Sydney lunch date with my two stylish sisters...

Worn with Miss shop yellow polka dot dress, Vintage belt and necklace, Sportsgirl sunnies, Allanah Hill yellow bow hair clip and Wittner cream leather wedges!

And again the next day when i caught up with a friend over the best coffee and sambo I've had in ages! seriously those who work in parramatta should try the coffee shop next to the asian place and before gosh- its great!

Worn with Bulgari sunnies, Glassons blue linen dress, vintage earnings and necklace and my current shoe obsession my tan Love Story mules from Runway Girl!

Whilst I was whirling around this week I made a massive discovery!
I found an Allanah Hill sale! OK- I can feel the eye rolls from here (yes I said feel! they're intense those eye rolls)
It wasn't an ordinary sale though - it was a fantastic sale!
It had the holy grail of Allanah Hill items...'My Beautiful Clown skirt' in red in my size!!!!!
AMAZING, I have been looking for this skirt in a 12 or 14 from the time it came out
(about 12 months).

This is also a quiet achievement as the first time myself and the skirt in question entered the confines of a change room - It really wasn't pretty, it was another episode of Danielle bearlette in a change room with an item of clothing seemingly made for a child's play toy.

Today I took in a size 12 - it's still tight (more work to be done) -however it fits :D
It zips up the entire way AND the pretty red jewel buttons each do up... did i mention its a 12??? WIN!

Isn't it just gorgeous... proper pics soon I promise!

The lady that lunches

You would think that having time off would give me plenty of time right? Wrong!
It simply amazed me how fast my week was populated between family, friends, boys that make my knees weak and those potential next contracts, my week was overflowing with social engagements!

Nephewing...

Mondays agenda to quote Carrie Bradshaw saw me "try on two new labels" Fleur Wood & new mother uni student. No, I haven't had a baby and taken up a degree! I agreed to help my sister with my cutie pie nephew nicholas whilst she had a meeting with a potential new supplier on campus at unsw (thats right -LP goods soon to be available on lower kensington campus - u heard it here first!)

Dressed in my new pale blue v neck embroidered Fleur Wood wrap dress that reminds me of something out of the notebook, with my tan mules and big white collette 'mum' bag , I was ready for a day of pram pushing through the park and those adoring looks that seem to follow our little nicca bear wherever we take him.
Reality ... Just a tad different!
My turbulent relationship with the weather continued as the wind kicked up & played mischievous with my dress!
My dress blowing up every five minutes, my hair looking more deshevelled then deconstructed cool and still attempting to push the pram in a strait direction, I could almost forgive the disapproving looks from grungy 2nd year Psychology students rushing down campus.
I decided that trotting around campus wasn't going to work as a plan and my inner fear of being mistaken as a teenage mother forced my retreat to the uni field nearby...
Greatly impressed with this development nicholas took to picking me flowers- so cute!
If only all the males in my life were this easy to please :)

Check out how chic my sister makes mother hood look whilst playing in the park post appointment.

Cafe Styling ...

Coffee with a mate who's ringtone has recently been changed in my phone to LMFAOs "I'm sexy and i know it"(to paint a picture) on my agenda and lunch with a GF we all call China, (Ironically she's not Chinese and she doesn't resemble fine dinner wear or porcelain in any way).
feeling  slightly bloated this morning and spent too much time looking at potential next jobs - I have to rush to get out the door on time, I grab ....Dark denim jeans, Tan belt,  a favorite red and beige pokadot Allannah silk cami & my red blazer! shoes? flats - cute little black ballets i picked up last winter from Rubi shoes!

Coffee never quite happened on account of my running eternally late however this gave way to being able to meet up with china muffin early and in a turn of brilliant luck we ended up at Cafe Sydney,
well some one has to do it, right?
Great lunch and my peach bellini  was delicious, Its the dessert however that takes the cake (pardon the pun!) fried banana, Peanut butter and salted caramel Parfait with salted caramel peanuts and choc caramel praline... It was heaven on a plate!

Now wheres that gym located again???

Chicks who Flick...

The Vow has recently made its Channing Tatem shirtless way to our screens and again its china for the hook up with free tickets to a Chicks at the flicks event.

I needed comfort for this and the rain was still threatening very few hours however as it was chic event I also needed cool because as very self confessed fashion diva knows - its not the guys you dress up for, I mean they'd be happier if we all wore nothing... exhibit A zoo magazine!

I went for a black mini, grey v neck distressed cotton shirt, black tuxedo blazer, beige seam line fishnets and tan healed biker boots...topped up with lots of long chains and bracelets

The movie was fab and the goodie bags after where even better with some great sample products and yummy munchies like Lindts new Crunchy Caramel bars Mmmmmm....

Farewell Friday...

A favorite Mate to spend a friday night with drinking and generally getting up to mischief recently made a big decision to leave his very stable employment... no further comment on that - however it did give way to friday nights actually having an excuse to drink and dance... the brief was PARTY!

I took this as a great excuse to try out my new Betty Draper inspired purchase from Origami Doll, a label that I fell over during an enforced (yes enforced, I swear there was no getting out of it, no possible other things I could have been doing or apartments I could have been helping renovate) shopping trip to paddington a couple of weeks ago.

I teamed that with my red bow allanah belt and matching shoes...
Speaking of shoes do see the uber sexy heals on my pretty side kick to mischeif below.

PS- the smiles on our faces couldnt be helped whilst gushing about the attractive males on the other side of the camera...

Friday 3 February 2012

Rain rain go away come again a non-fashion day!

Sunshine on my window...

Feeling completely chipped this week as the sunshine has disappeared and been replaced by a kiwi esq grey cloud, humidity and bucket loads of rain.

Friday night rolled around and after having had an epicly unpalitable week combined with Sydney's current weather and its complete disregard for boots belonging to a winter wardrobe and frizzy over blow-dried hair being very out of style... to quote a dear friend "I wasn't feeling the love"!

I need to mention that I think there should be a refund option available on some weeks, I would have liked the option this week of saying;
'yea - thats not going to work for me - scratch that and lets start again'.

Im just saying!

Curled up on a chair in my kitchen and watching the rain fall, sipping contentedly at my second long black of the day and fielding texts from friendlets on 'the plan' for that night I finally decided to accept that I was indeed heading out into the weather that night and my mission was clear ... find something to wear!

My thoughts were instantly drawn to the idea of dresses and tights with boots and a hot blazer - yes you say that would work ... Think again - thank you humidity!

The rain ruled out my absolute love affair with peep-toe styled heals (many of which are Peeptoe shoes if you haven't heard of them check them out now, I claim no responsibility for the addition like side effects) & my current collection of sensible shoes were proving uninspiring ... I thought all may have been lost... then lightbulb - DENIM!

Denim daze...

being a little on the curvy side and having an hour glass figure means I have a volatile relationship with jeans, it always takes me ages to find a pair that are comfy, look great and don't give me massive cupcakes!

I often find myself in the change room of a General Pants or other "In crowd"store, half a jean leg on and unmovable past my knees- I'm looking at the label and it says 14? I'm very confused as I'm sure they meant adult and not kid size and yet they really would fit my arm...Suspect!
Did I mention that for the pleasure of not being able to properly fit into the jeans (after doing a contortionist act to finally pull them above your fanny!) you get to pay 1/3 of your weekly wage to take these gems home stash them in your wardrobe and never never never wear them? yep women we make oodles of sense alright!

I have wisdom to impart for cheap, comfortable and fashionable jeans that actually last head to Dotti!
I recently lost 20kgs and have thus gone through the above denim shopping dance several times. Im in love with my dotti dark denim skinny legs and my mates can attest they have been a regular occurrence on my weekend wardrobe roster, best of all they gave me change from $50, Ooooh yea coffee time!

The final verdict...

After cruising my collection of silk camis and cute blazers heres what I finally landed on;
My cute new black forever new 50's bustier cami teamed with blush coloured cropped leather jacket (love the Balmain esq sleeves on this jacket and the pale pink colour gives it such a cute 'pink lades' effect.), Toni Biancco Black Suede bow front pumps and my Dotti dark denim jeans!

Now wheres that dam cocktail?

Sunday 29 January 2012

Hello my names Danielle and i am a fashion victim...

welcome to Thats wat she wore,
My experiment into suddenly having much time and a fashion addiction.

I'm 24, have pale skin blue eyes and red hair, Im size 14 (almost a 12)
I work in event management and I have a small secret ...

I still play dress ups!

This blog is my validation, I will now have a legitimate reason to document that outfit I so painstakingly put together for that coffee with cute hotel BDM, Friday night drinks, lunch with the girls or just because lets face it the first thing you want to do with a newly bought clothing item is play dress ups...

Shoes- are by far my favorite fashion item... a close friend once remarked that one could entertain a Danielle all day simple by hiding shoes around the place an telling her to go seek them.
These particular shoes are a favorite of mine, They are very special shoes - (ok, they wont take you to kansas if if you click them twice however they have a fantastic effect on an empty cocktail glass come friday night!) My Best GFs (dam stylish bunch) bought these for me on my last birthday, they were the final touches on another brilliant allannah outfit.

Allannah Hill - its a love affair that started with my year 10 formal dress hunt... ironically i didn't end up wearing an allannah dress that night, it did however start a now almost decade long obsession resulting in at least 1/3 of my wardrobe bearing that familiar red and gold label.
Allannah is the epitome of feminine fashion in my opinion and perfectly combines sex appeal and understated glamour. you should expect her wonderful creations to pop up frequently.

Phantom menace ... Love Never Dies.

Saturday Night saw me channel my fashion powers for an unusual cause,
Lady like glam!

The reason for this... Love Never Dies!

My loverly sister Larissa (who is also the brains behind Little Pudding- do check it out) bought tickets to the Phantom of the Opera Sequel as a christmas present for herself, Mum & I.
(I can recommend that anyone who loved Phantom of the Opera buy a ticket as its totally worth the time.) We don't get out as just the three of us too often anymore so we thought we'd make a night of it and try out one of the newest of the Merivale offerings - Felix, for dinner that night, have to say it was a great night and a fantastic brassiere - check out the pretty snaps!

After several out fit changes I landed on the below outfit choice, Allannah Hill!
Raspberry open backed, silk cocktail dress with wittner Red sequined dorothy-est. heels.
